Ever since I've been a little girl, I've been obsessed with reading. When I was 5, I used to sneak a flashlight at night and read book after book under my covers. Even now, as an adult, reading at night is one of my favorite things to do. It gives me a chance to finally unwind and relax from my day. So I thought it would be fun to share any really rad reads I find here on the blog :)
Every Christmas Eve it's tradition in my family that we get to open 1 present - it's always a book. This year, my mom gave me a murder mystery called Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Although I had never of this story nor Gillian Flynn before, a quick bio told me this was her 3rd novel in series of dark & twisted themes. A definite telltale sign I would thoroughly enjoy it (I should preface this by saying I love dark, creepy and strange books/movies. I'm not really sure why but I blame my father's influential love for Sci-Fi) Then, once I read the inside blurb on the jacket cover I knew I wouldn't be able to put it down.
The book is about a couple who are about to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary when the wife, Amy, suddenly goes missing. And the Nick, the husband, isn't really doing himself any favors with his thoughts or actions.. Let's just leave it at that say it's a damn good read. I especially enjoyed Flynn's style of writing, switching back and forth from Nick & Amy's POV creating a tug-of-war on whose side you're on. (by the way it switches from page to page) I was on page 198 last night when I crawled into bed around Midnight. That's when it started to get really amped up. I knew I was in trouble but couldn't resist not making it to the end. I stayed up until 2:55 AM just so I could finish all 420 pages. Totally worth the massive black bags under my eyes today.
Have you read this yet? If you're looking for a new book to get engrossed in, trust me, you won't be able to put this one down!
Best book I've read this year! I definitely questioned myself. Gillian Flynn did such a good job switching between narrators and capturing the voice of each character. So glad others also loved it!

Thank you for this recommendation. I was a huge book reader as a child (ok and most of adulthood) but I've somewhat fallen out of it lately. I've heard good things about this book so I will definitely go read it now!
