Outfit Post: Daytime {& Worktime!} Sequins

I'm a firm believer of daytime sequins. Actually, I believe in wearing something sparkly every single day (just ask my co-workers!) Whether it's my glittered flats, sparkly sweaters or sequined hair wear I'm always up for a littler shimmer. So when I bought a new sweater on Saturday I knew exactly what to pair it with! I have some fabulous sequined shorts that I usually love dressing up with, but I wanted to figure out a way to wear them a bit more casually. So here is what I came up with:

{Top: Forever 21; Sequin Shorts: Express similar style here; Black Ankle Boots: Jessica Simpson Hager Bootie}

I've been obsessing with this photo ever since I came across it. So I was instantly inspired to put together this outfit. The over sized knit keeps my look casual and fresh while balancing out the sequins in the shorts. I wanted to keep the overall feel polished and edgy so I added my leather ankle boots to pull everything together. A few barrel curls and an armful of bangles rounds everything out. I also grabbed my latest vintage find - a Dooney & Burke crossbody bag I picked up for $3.00. (Yes... ridiculous I know!) It kind of gives a Prep School vibe to my outfits, something I'm not used to dabbling in but am totally loving right now.

I think that just about anyone could re-create a look similar to this for office wear. Try pairing your sequined bottom with black tights to cover your bare legs or a thicker and chunkier knit for an instant cozy glam look. Just make sure your shorts are appropriate for your workplace (mine is a bit more casual than most places but my shorts are still at a nice length) Another option is menswear. Grab a boyfriend cardi to throw on over your skirt or shorts. If you're not ready to dive into a sequin short or skirt, then test out a sparkly sweater or glittery shoes. Trust me when I say this: try a little sequin - I guarantee it will put an instant smile on your face! Have fun and sparkle away!
